Those candidates who qualified for JEE Main Paper-I are eligible for JEE Advance paper. Every year almost 2.50 lakh candidates appear for JEE Advanced paper to get into top IITs. JEE Advance score is also applicable for Top IITs and Top NITs. Those candidates appearing for JEE Advance paper can get into 23 IITs of India. JEE Advanced exam is a national-level exam. The language of the paper is in English and Hindi. JEE Advance paper consists of two papers.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced:

  • The students must be passed JEE Main Paper (Paper-I) and be among the top 2.5 lakh candidates.
  • The students should have been born on or after 1st October 1996. For SC, ST, and Pwd students they get a relaxation of 5 years.
  • The maximum attempt a student can give for JEE Advanced is 2 times in a consecutive 2 years.
  • The candidates must be passed the class 12th examination in 2020 or 2021 for the first time.
  • The students should score 75% marks in Class 12th to get into IITs and for SC, ST, and Pwd students the minimum criteria is 65% marks.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern:

  • The JEE Advanced paper is divided into two papers: Paper-I and Paper-II
  • Both papers are compulsory for the candidates who are appearing for JEE Advanced exam.
  • In Paper-I total number of questions carry is 48.
  • In Paper-II total number of questions carry is 46.
  • The question paper consists of Numerical questions and Multiple-choice questions.
  • There will be negative marking for both papers.
  • In Numerical type of questions, negative marking is not applicable.
  • All the questions occur from the topics of Class11th and Class 12th standard.
  • Each paper consists of three different sections:
    1. Mathematics
    2. Physics
    3. Chemistry
  • The exam will be conducted in Online mode.
  • The duration of the paper is of 3 hours for each paper.

Question Paper:

  • JEE Advanced 2021 will consist of two questions paper: Paper-I & Paper-II of 3 hours duration. Appearing for both papers is compulsory for the candidates.
  • Each question paper will consist of three separate sections Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
  • The question paper consists of reasoning, designed to test the comprehension and analytical ability of candidates.
  • For some of the questions, negative marks will be awarded for incorrect answers.
  • The students must read the detailed instructions given at the time of the examination.
  • The question paper language will be both in Hindi & English.

Seat Allocation Criteria:

  • The students who secured rank in JEE Advanced are eligible to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation process for seats in IITs.
  • All the students who are eligible for admission will have to participate in the Joint seat Allocation process by filling the choices of the institutes and courses.
  • The detailed instructions while filling the choice & the seating procedure will be made available by the JOSAA brochure.
  • The Joint seat Allocation schedule will be announced by JOSAA separately.
  • The seat of IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other Government funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will be offered through a common process by JOSAA to be held in online mode.

Some Important Instructions:

  • The students must be passed Class 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, A Language, and any subject other than four.
  • The duration of the JEE Advanced paper is of 3 hours and for PwD candidates who opt for compensatory time will get 4 hours for the exam.

Examinations considered to Class 12th standard criteria:

  • The candidate must be passed the class 10+2 system with the State or Central Board by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). (OR)
  • The candidate must be passed Two-year pre University or Intermediate exams conducted by the board or University by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • H.SC. Vocational subjects.
  • Final exam of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing by National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School examination conducted by National Open of Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School conducted by Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country as equivalent to the 10+2 system by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Those students who have completed the Class 12th examination outside India or from a Board not specified then they should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to show that they passed the Class 12th examination.

Preparation Tips for JEE Advanced:

  • While preparing for the JEE Advanced exam you shouldn’t waste time. Make a proper plan when you will study and do your other work. You can only score a good mark in JEE Advanced exam with having a proper time plan for studies.
  • Preparing for this exam stick to your routine and give the maximum time on your weak topics.
  • Before preparing for the Exam just know the syllabus and the topics and plan according to it.
  • Make proper notes while completing the chapter.
  • Solve the previous year’s questions after completing any chapter so you can know in which form it can be asked in the Exam.
